Early this near complete year (2010) I went to the cinema to see a British film entitled "Bunny and the Bull". My friend liked it, being a fan of those who made it, but I felt that it had been moderately funny for a comedy, but I had been impressed by the inspired choice of the tex-mex sixties' track which ended the film, and went on to play out with the closing credits. We waited till the credits had run to hear this song, so familiar but we couldn't place it.

The Mexican brass sound so perfectly reflected the emotional intensity as the lead character overcame his obsession, so surely it must be credited. But it wasn't.

We thought it might be out of copyright or something, in the public domain, but we both felt there was a slight problem with using a song and not crediting it. We found, via the internet, that the song was Love's Alone Again Or, Elektra Records (EKSN 45024 (UK)), and we promptly bought it off Itunes.

Later this year, we bought the dvd of the film, and curiously, once again there was no credit for Love or Elektra, though the other music in the film is credited. And on the great Wikipedia article, again no credit. Being a little perturbed, I updated the article, putting in the music credit and successfully linking it to the band Love (rather than the emotional state, which I did intially!), and putting a note on the page for the song Love "Alone again or", mentioning the appearance in this film. Finally I'd joined in the Internet!

Imagine my surprise when on attempting to edit another article on Wikipedia I found I had been blocked from edits or new postings on the site. The only editing I have ever attempted was this connected with Love's single, and surprise, surprise my edit of teh film page has been very recently reversed. The Love credit has been removed from the page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bunny_and_the_Bull

It seems air-brushing of history is at work. I wonder if the film producers' have failed to get permission for this song's use? I feel it should be credited, as it is important to the overall effect of the movie and the lack of a credit disjuncts potential fans from the band by obscuring their identity and hence affecting the potential saleability of their catalogue. A song this good deserves far better treatment, and I am embarrassed it is a British film company behaving so badly.

Yours sincerely,
