Ray Charles once said “I was born with music inside me. Music was one of my parts. Like my ribs, my kidneys, my liver, my heart. Like my blood. It was a force already within me when I arrived on the scene. It was a necessity for me-like food or water.” With the same ideology applied to his own life, aspiring soul singer LaJon also feels that music is a vital part of who he is.

Being a product of the 80′s, LaJon grew up with parents playing music from their generation. Quickly falling in love with the timelessness of Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson, he had no idea that one day he too would forge a path in music. As a child, singing in the church and school choirs were mere past times. The talent bestowed upon him was not recognized early on. .

It was not until college that the young crooner would take his talent seriously. While attending a church service, LaJon seriously pondered over the question posed by the pastor. “Do you have a talent? ” Yes, LaJon thought to himself, realizing music was a true talent and not just a hobby. From that moment on he vowed to make an honest effort to pursue music and all it had to offer.

While attending Georgia Southern University, LaJon competed in the school’s talent competition, similar to that of American Idol. Performing in front of over 1,000 audience members is one of the young artists career highlights. Winning the competition only solidified in his mind that he was meant for music. His 2011 win for BMI’s “Know Them Now” song writing competition proved that his talents extend passed singing. While the validation was never expected, it was well received.

With his first single “Try Me” gaining momentum in Atlanta, fans have been anticipating the release of his EP, “Definition of Lovers Lost”. Looking up to artists such as John Legend and Rascal Flats, his love for music continues to grow as he works on perfecting his craft. LaJon aspires to share what he considers classic music with depth, meaning, and a youthful appeal. With uncanny dedication to his god given gift, LaJon continues writing and co-producing his songs to ensure that his story to stardom is that of a personal relationship to music. “I just want to put my all into this” LaJon says, misty eyed staring in to the future.
