Elliott James Music
About Me
Since the turn of the millennium West Country born Elliott James has been a familiar name to many on the Surrey / Hampshire Open Mic circuit as his highly energetic & rocking performances have delivered his high calibre songs to the ears of many. It of course helps that he is a highly accomplished guitarist who tears it up every time he plays.
Elliott began a new chapter with his music when he relocated down to Cornwall in 2007. ‘I’ve been happily performing independently for the last five or so years, but when I moved down to Falmouth Cornwall, for University, I was overwhelmingly inspired by the enthusiasm for traditional folk and acoustic music. The Cornish put so much emphasis on collaborative performance, that It was little wonder that I actively started wanting to get involved and emulate the earthy sound I was hearing in so many of the pubs of the county’.
Whilst in Cornwall Elliott set up a successful weekly Open mic Night at Falmouth Student Union, where he was able to hone his performance, and showcase his material to a growing audience. Through the nights Elliott met Orchestral Jazz group; The Peoples String Foundation, who can be heard on Elliott’s latest work.
Elliott James and The Peoples String Foundation are best described as a collective blend of folk and acoustic music similar the sound currently being made popular by the like of Mumford & Sons, Seth Lakeman and the Fleet Foxes.
