Cee Lo Green is set to bring his larger-than-life personality to the small screen.
The Grammy Award-winning artist left his gig a as a mentor on NBC‘s The Voice (he and fellow departing mentor Christina Aguilera were later replaced this season by Usher and Shakira) to film a new reality series with TBS tentatively titled The Cee Lo Life.
“With his distinctive voice, winning personality, and remarkable ability to tap into a wide range of musical styles, Cee Lo Green has risen to the top of the music industry,” TBS President and Head of Programming Michael Wright said in a statement accompanying the series announcement. “This new TBS series will give viewers the chance to get to know Cee Lo Green, who is without a doubt one of the hardest working men in show business. The Cee Lo Life is certain to be a smart, fun, and funny journey packed with a lot of great music.”
The Turner network has ordered six episodes of the series that will undoubtedly follow Cee-Lo as he and his Goodie Mob group mates Big Gipp, Khujo, and T-Mo work on their long-awaited fifth album, Age Against the Machine, which is set to be released on August 27.
“We are honored for this opportunity to entertain and extend the life of a long legacy of classic programming at TBS—which in our book stands for The Best Station,” Green said about his new series.
